Charles Orn, Sr., Laid to Rest on Wednesday of Last Week
Funeral services for Charles Orn, Sr. of Stirum who passed away Monday a.m., Aug. 30, were held Wed., Sept 1, at 2 o'clock at the farm home 7 miles northwest of Stirum. ... Charles Orn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oleson was born in Shinnige, Ostergotland, Sweden on January 26, 1858. He received his education in his native land coming to the United States at the age of 22. He first settled on a claim near Lisbon, later moving to the present homeplace where he had resided for 53 years. He was married to Julia Kjilsberg on October 24, 1887, and to this union nine children were born, a son preceding him in death. Mr. Orn was one of the early settlers of this section of the state, and took a keen interest in the upbuilding of his community. He was a member of the Lutheran chruch. Mr. Orn had been somewhat feeble but had been in good health until a short time before his death. He became ill on Tuesday of last week, gradually becoming weaker and passed away on August 30. He was 81 years, seven months and 8 days old. ...
